Our Goal

The Local Business Restart Project was created as a direct response to the impact that COVID- 19 pandemic has had on local small and medium-sized businesses. It is a collaboration between Community Futures South Fraser, STÓ:LŌ Community Futures, the Chilliwack Economic Recovery Network (CERN), and the Abbotsford Business Community Coalition (ABCC). The CERN and ABCC were created at the very beginning of the economic shut down to support and assist local businesses within the recovery phase following the provincial health officers' mandate to close non-essential business in March 2020. The project goal is to provide much-needed support for Workforce Development, Financial Impact Strategies, E-Commerce Strategies, Marketing Strategies, and skill-building to assist businesses with pivoting operations or enhancing current offerings to re-open, restart, and maintain operation within the local community.

Community Success Stories

"I would like to take this opportunity to give a huge shout out to the unbelievable Community service that is being provided by Nicole Read and her wonderful team at the Community Futures office in Chilliwack.  This surprise grant offered for PPE expenses was most welcome and certainly goes a long way to offset the bitter taste of the Covid 19 Pandemic and it's effect on small businesses in our Community.  With a heavy decline in 2020 business, having to spend extra money to make people safe is understandable and appreciated, but with revenues so low this year, every little bit of support goes a long way to helping all small businesses to make it through these challenging times."

~ Mike

"I just wanted to thank you again for all the work you do for us guys. It’s very much appreciated and you have given me hope that dreams do come true, that we can achieve our dreams and goals through hard work And perseverance. And I can tell that you guys really do care about our situation and that you want to see us and the community thrive."

~ Cam

The last year and a half have been an incredibly difficult time for us so this is very meaningful on so many levels. I know many successful people that have had similar experiences and it was someone like you that allowed them to turn things around and put all the lessons they learned to practice. We are excited about the future and to prove to Community Futures that they made the right choice. We look forward to serving the community and be active contributors where we can.
